1. CURB APPEAL

It’s definitely important, but a huge project isn’t usually needed to make a positive impression. Simple fixes like adding mulch, fixing edging, and removing or trimming overgrown shrubs and trees goes a long way. Adding plants is usually not necessary. Put a planter or two next to the front door, and for an instant facelift – paint or replace the front door.

2. SOFT SCRUB

Do a “soft” kitchen remodel! Painting or even just cleaning kitchen cabinets and updating hardware creates an instant upgrade. Organizing and decluttering the countertops and pantry. Sparkle and shine go a long way!

3. A FRESH COAT

One thing that’s almost a given – is painting. You should paint your home to freshen and clean it up, and when you do – choose popular colors. Call paint stores and ask what the most popular interior colors are. Make the house flow nicely by using one color, or slightly different shades. If you have to sacrifice any area – skip repainting the kids’ rooms!

4. STEP LIVELY

If your floors are very worn, it’s best to update the material for the visual appeal, versus offering a flooring allowance. Wood-look vinyl is a popular and cost-effective choice. If replacing the floor isn’t in the cards – have carpets and rugs professionally cleaned or rent a carpet cleaner. Also get the wood, vinyl, or tile floors shined up!

5. LIGHTEN UP!

If your lighting fixtures are very out-of-date, dingy, broken, or anything else that makes them stand out as a negative feature rather than positive – it’s worth considering replacing at least some of the major fixtures in hopes of delighting potential buyers!
